Back Home from Sunny Florida

We had a great trip to Florida last week.  We went to Fort Lauderdale, Key West and Naples and met up with lots of friends and family who were also traveling down there.  The weather, water and sunsets were beautiful.

I did end up getting one thing for the home, which I try for on every vaca.  I bought this photograph framed in wood from an old lobster trap in Key West.  I think it will be living in our main bathroom.  I like how the frame looks against the paint color.

Back to the real world now, and 40 degree weather.  Missed the freakish 80 degreeish weather up here!

Birthday Weekend Recap

I had a wonderful time this birthday weekend with wonderful people.  There were lots of great dinners and nights out and gifts! The presents included lots of stripes, lots and lots of owls and just lots of good stuff.  You can see all the owl cards below that I want to try to make into some art for the walls.  And that big basket of flowers is from my parents, so pretty and springy!

After the husbo said the painted cabinets were my birthday gift for about a month, he surprised me with a big present! This West Elm island was just hanging out in the kitchen one night when we got home from dinner!  I was really really surprised!  (The shelves weren't all set up like this, he knows that's my favorite part : )

I wasn't sure if it felt too cramped at first, but we took a leaf out of the kitchen table and now I'm loving it.  The awesome beehive vase on the island was a gift from my sister-in-law (thanks Court).  I also got some Ray Ban sunglasses, an owl necklace (so cute, thanks Nads) and a bunch of clothes.  And can't forget the gc to HomeGoods (yay!) from my mother-in-law.  It was a perfect birthday!
