Crazy about Green

I can't get enough green lately, well actually I guess since we first moved into this house.  And now I just keep sneaking the color in to every room I can.  Earlier this week at HomeGoods I bought some great green pillows.  One for my living room and two for my basement.  Originally our basement had no traces of green, but I just couldn't resist.  Here are the basement ones.

Yes, I know, it is very yellowy down there.  That will hopefully change soon.  Planning to paint the walls some sort of white.

Next, I got this chevron one for my Ethan Allen chair in the living room.  Anyone feel like HomeGoods seems to be getting better and better with pillows?

I also got some more green accessories for our porch, some outdoor pillows and a green outdoor safe tray.  The pillows are from the Christmas Tree Shop, only $6 each.  And the tray, of course, is from HG.

The little lanterns were a house warming gift from my mom-in-law.  So cute!

Well there's my green craziness for you.  Pretty soon this will be ourgreenlovenest blog!

Mother's Day Table

Yesterday, we hosted a very successful Mother's Day barbeque with our family.  We had both of our mom's and my two grandmothers here.  Although it was a tight fit, we had a wonderful time.  Thank goodness it wasn't raining too, so we were able to spend some time outside.  Here are some shots of the table before everyone arrived.

Hope you all had a beautiful Mother's Day Weekend!

Mother's Day Weekend

The husbo and I will be hosting a Mother's Day bbq this Sunday.  My mom, my mother-in-law and my grandmother will all be here, plus about 10 others.  I can not wait to decorate the table all beautiful and feminine!  Mother's Day is a perfect excuse for a very girly table.  I have done a few crafts this week to get ready, here are a couple of them.

I made those terra cotta moss balls after seeing something very similar in a flower store.  I had all the stuff to make them, so they were free and I love these little guys.  I also had those little mason jars that I made tags for with each mothers/grandmothers name.  I will be putting a single flower in each of them to put at their place setting.  I plan on using hydrangeas, peonies, and roses in whites and soft pinks.  I am so happy that peonies are out!

Did you also spy my owl butter dish from West Elm?  Found him on sale last weekend, and we will be having corn on the cob just so I can put him to use :)

I will be back next week with pictures of the decorated table.  Happy Mother's Day to all you moms!

Weekend Container Planting

This weekend, among two showers (one bridal and one baby) and a bachelorette party, I was able to squeeze some time in to plant two container gardens.  I tried to copy one that I saw in Better Homes and Gardens, but I couldn't find all the same plants at Home Deeps.  So I just winged it.  I think they came out pretty good, I just hope they can make it through the spring and summer.

They are sitting on either side of our garage door.  Speaking of garages, we are thinking about painting the garages black to match the door.  Any thoughts?

Freshening Up the Living Room

In an attempt to make our living room feel less formal and more casual, I bought a new jute rug (my first Joss & Main purchase, love that site).  The new rug is also larger than our original one, below.

I think the larger rug makes the room feel bigger, it's definitely a better fit.

I also stopped by West Elm today and picked up that cute green and white striped throw (20% off!) that's on the couch.

Everything is feeling a lot brighter in here.  Perfect for spring time!

Temporary Housewife

Last Thursday was my last day of work at a business job that I had been at since I graduated college.  And yesterday started my new full time job as a housewife!  Nottttt, but a girl can dream.  I will be taking a couple weeks off to do stuff around the house, but then will be looking for something part-time.  Thanks to my awesome hubby for letting me do this : )

So for the next two weeks, I will be trying to get some little house projects done, probably redecorating a lot and just plain getting the house together.  And of course, there will be lots of blog reading and hopefully writing.

Yesterday, I went shopping for a new patio door with my grandparents, probably shouldn't be spending money with no job, but it was a must, our old one is falling apart.  Plus, my grandparents picked up most of the bill!  They also brought me this branch of bay leaf from their yard.  I just love how it looks on the kitchen table.

And it smells delicious.  So this is where I will be happily sitting for the next couple of weeks!
