Ornament Swap

I decided to host an ornament swap this year since so many of my friends are just starting their own collections of ornaments.  My rules are that everyone needs to bring 3 ornaments: one bought, one made and one whatever (old, found at a yard street, etc.).  I got the idea for my made one from the Better Homes Christmas edition and I really like how it turned out.  I think it would be especially cute on a wrapped present.

I used two different colors of card stock, brown and yellow cause that's what I had.  You just loop the strips of paper and glue them together.  Then glue a circle in the middle.  I also cut out a little saying from a magazine that I placed in the middle of the circle.  It says Let it Snow.  You can see that a little better in this next picture.  My camera really stinks lately so hopefully Santa brings me a new one : )

Thanksgiving Spirit

As soon as November hit, I was ready to go pick out the Christmas tree and bring the decorations down from the attic.  Buttttt, I made myself get in a little Thanksgiving spirit first. I tweaked my Halloween mantle decorations to make a Thanksgiving mantle.

I turned my vase of branches into a Thanksgiving tree by cutting out some leaves and hangin them.  My plan was to write what we are thankful for on each leaf, but that hasn't happened yet : /

I put a couple pumpkins in some dishes and added some fall flowers. 



And that's about it for Thanksgiving decor, bring on Christmas!!!

Guest Room Update

I made another update to our guest room. My husband has been complaining for a while about the little kid’s dresser that he uses in the guest room, I have taken the bureau and closet in our room.  He could barely fit three shirts in one drawer.  So we went shopping and ended up with this piece from Boston Interiors. 

I hated the knobs when we bought it and I hated them even more when the piece got delivered. 

I immediately went on to Hobby Lobby and found some knobs that I thought would look better.  They arrived in a few days and I quickly changed all the knobs, much much better.

The husbo, of course, doesn’t care, as long as he can fit more than 3 t-shirts.

Falling for October

Fall and Halloween are so fun to decorate for.  There is no pressure to do too much, like Christmas.  A few pumpkins, some mums, a bunch of branches!  I autumnized my mantle with a vase of branches, candles, some moss, and some Halloween decorations.

Mums and pumpkins lie on the front stairs.  Still need some hay or corn stalks.
