Happy Shelves

A few months ago I thought of putting shelves into an almost nook at the bottom of the stairs that leads to our basement family room.  As soon as I thought of the idea, I started drawing pictures on paper and on the computer.  They were awful pictures but when I showed my carpenter grandfather, he knew what I was going for.  This is the space before the shelves.

My grandfather said it was no big deal and he started working on it right away.  He made the shelves at his house and then assembled it at our house.  My hubby was his little helper.  Here's a pic from install day.

And now for the final result!

Sorry the pictures aren't great, but I am loving these shelves.  I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner.  As you can see from above, I have changed up the decor a couple times and it is still not where I want it to be.  Any suggestions on styling?

Thanks Nonno for my new shelves!
